As for my story and the acquisition of Triple Nickel, here it is:
After the death of my husband I felt my wings were cut off so to speak. I was
aimlessly drifting and lost when a good friend of mine, Arthur, decided to
resume his flying after a 10 years break. He literally dragged me along to the
Blue Ridge ground school 5 years ago to get my mind off the situation. I
didn't do well as it wasn't really well structured. I started to take flying
lessons with Amy, a CFI at the Nut Tree. Someone told me about the
Aeronautical club on base so I decided to join and redo ground. It was hard
but I got a 95 after studying on the site computers each night. Meanwhile, the
hefty price of the private lessons started to weight and Arthur and I started
looking for a plane to purchase. When I heard that the owner of our plane Karl
Berger wanted to sell his Cessna after his stroke and we immediately fell in
love with it and bought it. It was an exciting day when I flew it back with my
instructor from the base to the Nut Tree! After 5 instructors deserting me, I
almost gave up getting my license. I was rescued by CFI Rob Markword, an
acquaintance of my boy friend and I flew back and forth from the Nut Tree to
Santa Rosa for a few more lessons and finally took and passed the check ride
with Steven Benedict, the examiner there.
Voila my story...the toughest challenge and accomplishment of my life for
sure...had to conquer fear of height, fear of flying and acquire a knowledge
of aeronautics I had never thought of!
